The bottom bracket is home-made. The 9" dial and movement are from another Seth Thomas clock as there is a spare set of mounting holes in the backboard & dial surround. Case never had a gong. The tablet is original to the case and the hands are period. There is a period Seth Thomas label in the bottom of the case, that has always been there. An odd item that is very fotogenic. Condition: well, the fotos of the case back with movement removed show the extra holes and new mounting blocks made to accommodate the changed movement. The combination is quite fotogenic. Someone might be able to get the parts back where they belong. This clock was sent up here by the nicest man who never looked behind the dial. The original Maranville dial is great, no attempts made to touch up or repaint in any way. Our estimate is based on the value of the parts. Own as "one of a kind" or use for parts. We were skeptical of the dial at first, however Whiting did not enter the scroll game until after 1830 and minute rings were already moving to the outside of the chapter ring. There are no extra holes in the dial and it lines up with the support board and original Whiting movement so we are calling it original. It is certainly the most colorful scroll dial we have seen.
