| 067 | C.1866, E. Howard & Co., Boston, "N" size (18 equivalent), series 3, 15j, KW, KS movement, serial #14071. The balance cock engraved with: "Mershon's Patent, April 26, 1859" & "Adjusted"; the Geneva Stopwork engraved: "Pat July 24, 1866", and the safety barrel patent "November 24, 1857". The original 18K P & M hunting case is correct for this period; the front cover with a small shield into which is finely engraved: "GN - 73 - 1868" This watch belonged to G. Nichols, (born 1795) partner in Nichols & Langworthy Machine Co, Hope Valley, RI. The company built looms & steam engines. It is missing the entire outer bezel and crystal for the dial. The dial with chips around the alarm wind. Engine turned dial center with original gilding intact. The engraved grid pendulum and engraved weight are later additions to this clock, however, the workmanship on this rare movement is especially fine providing full quarter striking with only one weight. | 381 | C.1820, James C. Cole, Rochester, NH, good American 8-day tall case. The case was refinished some time ago to a caramel color, the top fret to the hood is an appropriate restoration. The movement with typical New Hamoshire cut outs to the plates, with the original dial in remarkable condition. The vertical strokes of the signature have been strengthen tastefully -- rest of dial is original. Height 89" | $4000-5000 |
| 393 | C.1800, FRENCH, Time Only Great Wheel skeleton clock, the 3 wheel train with very high tooth count & tic tac 'scape. This very clock was the original pattern used by Norman Langmaid in producing 200 reproductions. Note this original with Arabic numerals, while Mr. Langmaid used Roman. The inverted "Y" frame, griffins & rosettes retain their original gilding. Most French skeletons use a going wheel with integral barrel, where this early example shows English influence with the use of a fusee & chain. Together with an old dome and base that are not original; height 17" | $3000-5000 |
| 397 | C.1890, French 5.5" Terrestrial Globe Clock. This clock was sold by the Globe Clock Co., successors to Buckley & Co., NY (so labeled). The base & globe have many years of grime and is essentially untouched. The curved wire supporting the sun has been bent. The French 8-day lever movement is sound but will need cleaning. Overall nice example; ht 13" | $2000-2500 |
