001. C. 1905, Ansonia LA PALMA, Royal Bonn, porcelain china clock, 8-day time and strike, solid dial, in a tri-color case, starting with aqua at top down to dark green at the base. CONDITION: this clock laid in the back of a pick up and there are some light scratches in the glaze on the back, but no apparent chips nor breaks. Rear cover is missing; pendulum incorrect. The dial has been papered over, and is damaged underneath; domed crystal is incorrect. If you have a spare movement/dial set up you could restore this nicely. Ht 11.5" $250--$350 002. Mixed lot from same era: C.1890, American Ansonia ball swing clock, now on a French, spelter statue, with support soldered into left hand. CONDITION: the top ribbon trim is missing from the arm, and the hands are incorrect, finish to ball is abraded, and some dents. Numerals and rest of arm are OK. The finish is worn off the statue and it has turned gray with oxidation. Our estimate figures the arm is worth around $600 and the statue around $100. Ht 29" $600--$900 003. C.1975, Jim Davis, Greensboro, NC, miniature gingerbread clock, walnut cased, with 30 hour fit up movement. Jim Davis was a rural postman outside Greensboro, and bought clocks at nearly every home in the area. When the old ones dried up he began copying them in mini configuration. CONDITION: Fit and finish are quite good as is typical of his workmanship. The 1-day movement is contained in a plastic case that is secured to the dial, which is in turn screwed to the case. This model is roughly half size. Ht 13.5" $400--$600 004. C.1975, Jim Davis, Greensboro, NC, miniature shelf acorn clock, walnut cased, with German 8-day movement. See lot 3 for details on Jim Davis. CONDITION: overall good original condition; movement ticks but appears to be very dirty. Tablet depicts a gentleman on horseback passing some city buildings and with 2 dogs. Ht 12" $500--$750 005. C.1975, Jim Davis, Greensboro, NC, miniature teardrop clock, walnut cased, with German 8-day movement. CONDITION. Back of case is slightly warped; minor discoloration on right side of case. Condition - Refinished oak case is in very nice clean condition. Porcelain dial is perfect. The minute hand has been repaired. The movement is signed. Nice label inside case. Ht 13.25"; $100--$200 007. C.1875, William L. Gilbert Clock Co., "Winstead Gothic Extra", 30-hour time/strike/alarm steeple clock. The original dial has some wear to the numbers. The hands are original. Both door glasses are original. Retains a nice label inside. Well above average for this model. Ht 17.25"; $100--$175 008. C.1950, Herschede, Ohio {Horsehide brand on German 8-day lever desk clock} CONDITION: Although the last owner paid a good price to have this overhauled, the repairman left the minute hand dragging on the glass, so that it stops after a few minutes. If you peer in, it looks clean as a bell, so I would imagine disassembly and some torque on the minute hand will solve the problem. Ht: 7.5" $50--$75 009. C.1855. Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, early cottage clock with reverse painted tablet, signed "From C. Jerome, New Haven, Conn." CONDITION: Generally good condition with original wooden dial and old finish. C.1893 [dated], Seth Thomas, ADAMANTINE, 8-day, time and strike, case of black and mottled tan. CONDITION: This is a clean clock, the movement recently overhauled and in good running order. The adamantine case is quite good with no noticeable chips. Also with good bottom label showing 1880 patent date, and production date {1893} clearly visible [read in reverse]. We still see these with retail prices around $300. Ht 10" $90--$120 011. C.1884, Seth Thomas OREGON, 8-day, time and strike on cathedral gong. CONDITION: this clock is in good original condition, with old cocobola finish intact. The top trim has been polished down and wiped over with shellac [grain is still closed]. Original painted dial with 3 or 4 flakes. Note the line drawing for this clock omits the two "ears" on this one, which is like one other we had, so we imagine the drawing was not updated after an early design change. One small chip on top right of marquetry trim; old split at top right of door. Retains original heavy pendulum with damascene pattern and full black label in case bottom that is barely readable. Overall good example. Ht 19.5" $200--$300 012. C.1900, French, Brass Cased, Time & Calendar desk clock, with 4 indications: time at top, followed by day, date and month.. The minute hand is a replacement. Label with losses. Still an uncommon model. Ht 9.5"; $125--$175 015. C.1955, German, GRAVITY - RACK clock. CONDITION: The movement has been cleaned and runs robustly. We are not sure of the duration, something less than a week, as we only ran it for a few hours to verify condition. The "musical" movement is complete and sound, but is hung up at the moment and not playing. Clock ticks and stops. Dial has been restored with a "porc-a-like" cover. The picture itself, with MOP inlay is one of the nicest we've had, and the frame is in great original condition. Ht 27" $250--$350 018. C.1906 Waterbury Clock Co., "Alburtis", 8-day time/strike crystal regulator, with open escapement on the dial. Condition - Gold plated case has been overpainted with gold paint on the outside, but evidence of the original gilding can be found inside. Original porcelain dial has a couple of hairline cracks. The hands and pendulum are original. Note: all of the beveled glass panels have some damage in the form of chips on the edges or the corners. The movement is signed.
